Basically, I though the picture was very dull, as regards colours. The brightness level looked fine.
So, what I did was, I used the pen tool to select the bug first. (This is done by drawing a path around the bug. You then click the 'load path as selection' buttom at the bottom of the paths palette. This is for people who do not know how to use the pen tool to make selections )

After selecting the bug, I went to Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation. Here, I adjusted the sliders till I got the red I wanted. I then went to Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast. Again, here I used the slider to adjust the contrast. I increased the contrast a bit, to make the bug stand out.

Next, I inversed the selection (Select>Inverse) and repeated the steps described above, for the leaf.

Final step - I added a border. This I did by increasing the canvas size.

Voila! Fixed Pic ready!
